Privacy Policy

Last updated: 25 July 2026

Am I Underpaid? ("we", "us", "our") respects your privacy. This policy explains how we collect, use, store and disclose personal information when you use amiunderpaid.online (the "Site") and our payslip-check service (the "Service"). We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

1. Who we are

The Service is operated by [legal entity name / ABN], based in Australia. If you have any questions about this policy or your personal information, contact us at [hello@amiunderpaid.online].

2. Information we collect

Information you give us. Your email address, when you join the waitlist so we can send you your result. If and when you choose to use the check, the payslip information you send us, which may include your name, your employer, your pay rates, hours worked and superannuation details. Please don't send information we don't need, such as your tax file number or bank account numbers.

Information collected automatically. When you visit, we record limited analytics: a random session identifier, the pages you view and buttons you click, how long you stay on the page, the website or source that referred you, your device and browser type, and an approximate location (country, and sometimes region or city) estimated from your IP address. We do not store your full IP address, and we don't use it to identify you personally.

3. Cookies & similar technologies

We don't use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. The Site uses your browser's temporary session storage to hold a random session identifier so we can count a visit accurately. It is cleared when you close the tab.

4. How we use your information

We will never contact your employer.

5. Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the service providers that help us run the Service, under confidentiality obligations:

We may also disclose information if required or authorised by law.

6. Overseas disclosure

Some of these providers may store or process data outside Australia. Where that happens, we take reasonable steps to ensure your information is handled consistently with the APPs.

7. How we protect your information

We take reasonable steps to protect your information, including access controls and encryption in transit. Our database is configured so the public website can only add records, not read them. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security.

8. How long we keep it

We keep waitlist and analytics data only for as long as we need it for the purposes above, and then delete or de-identify it. You can ask us to delete your information at any time.

9. Your rights

Under the Australian Privacy Principles you may ask to access the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Contact us at [hello@amiunderpaid.online] and we'll respond within a reasonable time.

10. Complaints

If you're concerned about how we've handled your information, please contact us first so we can put it right. If you're not satisfied, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.

11. Children

The Service is intended for people aged 18 and over and is not directed at children.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The current version always lives on this page, with the "last updated" date shown at the top.
